Shortening Supply Chains
Using Sea Freight
Rather than simply paying someone to offset our carbon, we decided to do something practical about it ourselves.
We purchased 66 acres of land in South-West France and started planting one tree for every customer order. Within 2 years we'd planted over 33,000 trees absorbing 235 tonnes of CO2 each year.
61% of what we sell is sourced from within the UK or Europe and we are looking to increase this wherever possible.
One thing we’ll never do is compromise on quality or security of supply, so in some cases we will source or manufacture products from further afield when we will feel no alternative can be found.
There are only two ways to get things across the ocean: by air or by sea.
To minimise emissions, it’s our policy to use sea freight and we have improved our planning processes with suppliers to ensure this.
We actively encourage all our customers to plan well ahead to avoid airfreight.

Solar Power and
Energy Efficiency
Our 33,000 sq ft state of the art warehouse is rated Grade A for efficiency with low energy solutions, zoned temperature control and solar panels on the roof which most days produce enough electricity to power our operations and even our staffs cars.
We’ve switched all our heating and cooling to electricity-based power and no longer use gas in the business. Our head office heating system is run through a heat pump to ensure maximum efficiency.
50% of the vehicles used within the business are electric and are charged wherever possible using electricity we have generated through solar power.

Setting The Bar High
Sourcing Materials Responsibly
Reduced Waste & Packaging
We work tirelessly to ensure we’re able to offer you strong eco alternatives. The vast majority of our products have a high recycled content & are 100% recyclable.
Our ‘eco plus icon’ shows the best of the best with at least 70% recycled material and 100% recyclable.
That’s our benchmark and we’re working to increase it each year.
When designing and manufacturing products, we’re committed to sourcing materials that have less of an impact on people and the environment.
Conscious shopping starts with good product knowledge, and we’ll always ensure you have as much information available to allow you to make the most informed product choices when purchasing from us.
We constantly review the way we pack and distribute our products to minimise waste whilst ensuring that products arrive intact.
We nest products at point of production where possible to reduce the volume of containers we ship each year.
Our production team constantly finds new ways to reduce the amount of packaging used in shipment including reducing the use of plastic in the supply chain.

Building
Partnerships
Certificates and audits can be a convenient way to ensure transparency, but they’re only part of the story, we want to see it working for ourselves and that responsibility that stretches beyond legal and regulatory requirements.
Instead of relying solely on external audits, we physically visit all of our top suppliers every year, and by understanding how they work and seeing it for ourselves, we ensure they fit with our values.
We are not perfect and nor are they but by identifying issues and improving them we’re able to ensure that our aims are aligned.
