Our story

How we became a go-to brand for those looking for purposeful solutions, excellent quality and the best service in town.

A journey of growth

In the beginning

Tim Wilkinson and Andrew Wilson met while in France, became great friends and launched a specialist company called Liquid ID, importing and personalising fine champagnes. (All made possible with a £5,000 loan from the Prince’s Trust.)

A journey of growth

A venture into packaging

With lots of hard work, a bit of luck and some innovative brainstorming, we moved into a small office in south-west London, rented a nearby storage unit and dove enthusiastically into our additional idea of producing branded wooden wine boxes.

A journey of growth

It's all in the name

Noticing a growing demand for premium packaging solutions without the inclusion of wine or champagne, we took the bull by the horns and launched the Wine Box Company, solidifying our reputation as experts in this field.

A journey of growth

Expanding the parameters

Having recently acquired a specialist packaging business to add to our wheelhouse, we took a leap of faith and rented a new office and 1,250 sq ft warehouse. We also branched into the food arena and included gifting and retail display items in our offerings.

A journey of growth

Cutting ties with the OG

With the Wine Box Company sales booming and yet another move to an even bigger space, we decided to sell Liquid ID and focus exclusively on providing quality white label and personalised packaging to our fast-growing customer base.

A journey of growth

We go globe hopping

We opened a small office in Hong Kong to facilitate our trade in the Far East(where several of our products are sourced). This was eventually relocated to Shanghai in 2007 and remains there to this day.

A journey of growth

New things on the rise

Bespoke packaging became even more popular, so we opened the Wine & Spirit Packaging Company (WSPC) to meet new demand, working on special projects for some of our larger clients.

A journey of growth

Eco-friendly outlooks

Having added shredded paper and fabric bags to our stable, we became early adopters of renewable practices and purchased 66 acres of land near Bordeaux, France. We’re proud to have planted over 33,000 trees on it to date.

A journey of growth

South-east London, here we come!

With an ever-growing bond forming between us and our patrons, we saw a need for a new workspace and showroom which would allow us to welcome them into the business and explore our products firsthand. Herne Hill proved to be an excellent choice of location.

A journey of growth

Facilitating new horizons

When sales are escalating, how do you store it all? By doubling down on a cutting-edge facility in Crawley, of course! Conveniently close to Gatwick airport, this space allowed us to effectively enhance our operational efficiency and distribution channels.

A journey of growth

Another big move

When it comes to good businesses, it takes one to know one. Which is why, when we were offered the opportunity to join forces with the Premier Paper Group (PPG), we leapt at the chance.

A journey of growth

Making inroads elsewhere

To strengthen our supply routes, we launched a convenient distribution base in Ireland, enabling us to reconnect with and streamline our services to valued customers in the region. And, as MD Simon Wright says, that’s just the beginning of our exciting new adventure...

WBC’s values

Although we cater to big concerns, we’re not all about large volumes and understand the challenges faced by those who are just starting out. To support the needs of smaller businesses, we are 100% dedicated to keeping our prices competitive, our products first-class and our minimum order requirements low.  To top it all, we also subscribe to a next-day delivery policy on all our ready-to-shop items. With sustainability, excellence and flexibility as key motivators, what we value the most is the relationships we forge on our journey.

Our mission

To partner with the UK and Ireland’s food and drink industry in supplying white label, personalised and bespoke packaging, gifting and retail display solutions. Plus, we’re committed to providing our insights and expertise (accumulated over the past 30 years), while putting our customers front and centre.
