Are these bowls food safe?
Food safety varies by product across the range. Our Kelso bowls are fully food-safe and suitable for direct food contact. Our galvanised metal and wooden bowls are suitable for dry goods like bread rolls, vegetables and packaged items; however, for direct food contact, we recommend using waxed paper. If you're unsure whether a particular bowl is suitable for your application, our sales team will be happy to advise.
Can I use them outdoors?
Our galvanised metal bowls are suitable for outdoor use. Rust-resistant and hardwearing, they are ideal for market stalls, farm shops and covered courtyards. Kelso and wooden bowls are designed for indoor use, as their finishes are not intended for prolonged exposure to the elements. If you're planning a covered outdoor display, get in touch and we'll be happy to recommend the most suitable options for your space.
What should I choose for what I'm selling?
The best display bowl depends on the products you're merchandising and the look you want to create. Our galvanised metal bowls are ideal for displaying dry goods and bottled drinks, making them a popular choice for farm shops and market stalls. With their natural, rustic appearance, wooden bowls work particularly well in delis, bakeries and cheese shops. The Kelso range is fully food-safe and waterproof, making it suitable for displaying salads, sauces and other fresh foods on buffet and deli counters.
How do I clean them?
All of our bowls can be hand-washed with warm, soapy water and wiped clean. None of the ranges are suitable for use in a dishwasher, oven, microwave or freezer. For wooden bowls, we recommend occasional treatment with our antibacterial board oil to help maintain the finish.
