What are WBC's chalkboards made from?
Most of our chalkboards are manufactured from a robust composite material which can be wiped clean with no 'ghosting' issues from previous messages or sign writing. For daily cleaning, a damp cloth is enough but we recommend you pick up a bottle of our Securit cleaning spray to make this action that extra bit smoother.
Which chalkboard size fits my setup?
A8 sizes work well for individual pricing in display cabinets, while A6 and A5 boards are ideal for shelf-edge and tabletop signage. A4 and larger sizes are great for menus and daily specials, whether displayed on a counter or mounted on a wall. Pavement boards are designed for outdoor use and are ideal for highlighting promotions and attracting passing customers. Do I need special pens for these chalkboards?
Yes, liquid chalk pens work best on the composite surface, so it's worth keeping a supply alongside your boards. Washable liquid chalk pens are ideal for indoor signage that changes regularly, while waterproof pens are better suited to A-frames and pavement boards used outdoors. For removing waterproof markings, we recommend using our liquid chalk marker cleaning spray.
Can these boards be personalised?
Yes, selected chalkboards can be personalised with screen-printed artwork, allowing you to add a permanent logo, branding, or headline alongside the writable chalk area. This is particularly useful for menu boards and promotional signage where you want key branding elements to remain in place while updating messages as needed. Standard personalisation is available on minimum orders of 50 units and typically takes 7 to 10 working days.
